Asian Gangs is a short documentary by Calum MacLeod & Lewis Bennett with cinematography by Benjamin Taft. It will screen at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival along with six other short films in the Short Cuts Canada Programme #2.

Calum MacLeod – Co-Writer/Co-Director
Born in Winnipeg, Calum MacLeod is now a Vancouver based filmmaker with a knack for telling quirky, funny stories. A graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Film Production Program, Calum won the 2005 National Screen Institute ZeD Drama Prize, and has produced shorts that have aired on the Comedy Network and Movieola. Venturing into television, Calum garnered a comedy writing Leo Award for his work on Road Hockey Rumble, a Gemini-nominated sports/comedy/reality series that he also created and hosted for OLN. He is also a HUGE fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Lewis Bennett – Co-Writer/Co-Director
Lewis Bennett is a filmmaker based in Vancouver. He studied digital film production at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). This year he is making one short film per month and posting them on his website. Each of these 12 films will be about people living in his home province of British Columbia. His short films include What Vancouver Means to Me [2008], After The Beep [2008], Parrot Island [2012], and The Sandwich Nazi [2012].
Ben Taft – Director of Photography
Benjamin Taft is a filmmaker, director, dp, editor & motion designer from Sweden, currently based in Vancouver, Canada. He has worked with international and local clients such as H&M, Puma football, The Canadian Olympic Committee, Avigilon, Grolsch Block Party, Pilsner Urquell, Peroni, Santa Maria, Marcus Samuelson, UR Swedish broadcasting, BKW & MTV Sweden. He’s also currently working on the documentary project Stocktown Africa and various personal short films and music videos.
